We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case which deals with a comment posted to Facebook on a photograph of Pakistani politicians. The comment included an image of a graph taken from a television program. The graph shows the seats won by different parties in Karachi mayoral elections out of total 366 seats with the title "Order issued to permit incarcerated candidates to also vote." One of the parties included is Tehreek-e-Labbaik.
Upon initial review, Meta removed the content for violating our Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
