Oversight Board

Facebook created the Oversight Board to help us resolve some of the most difficult questions around freedom of expression online: what to take down, what to leave up and why.

The purpose of the board

The board is an external body that people can appeal to if they disagree with Facebook’s content enforcement decisions on the Facebook app or Instagram. We’re committed to implementing the board’s content decisions, and their policy recommendations will help shape how we govern our policies going forward.
